Fan Fiction and Short Story

You can tell summer is almost upon us. Postings at various communities have started to slow up along with commentaries. Time to go out and play in the sun.

I was thinking about short stories and comparison to fan fiction. Fan fiction is it’s own unique genre, writing in a known universe with characters somewhat developed by others. At what length page wise or what is the number words a FF story is considered as a short story? Yeah, I know. Perhaps an inane question considering I have read anywhere from one page to hundreds. But I am curious about convention in fan fiction writing. Are there any standards in terms of characterization, plot, setting, and other writing elements.

I really do need to find others with similar interest in writing and add them to my friendlist.

This Friday was fantastic. I walked into the office and I knew from the sly looks on my office mates’ face, today was going to be off the hook. Do not put three crazy women in the same space. All kinds of discussions, and here I was trying to work, with a giggle, a smile, and other times, outright laughter. Loud and boisterous, a few came into our office asking where is the party. Corny children jokes, boyfriend jokes, pick on *me* jokes, my wit could never match my partners. Think bare naked skin with a towel wrapped around the middle and he trying to hint, hint, hint and she playing it cool, cool, cool. Oh did you want something. Hee!

I love this new company I’m working for.

Gawker and George Clooney

When does one cross the line into insanity. Some thinks it’s all for fun. But I disagree, entirely.

Celebrities have a life and yeah, they have to consider much of their lives are out there for public scrutiny. Does that extend to the fact a damn website called Gawker goes about tracking every move of celebrities and have their exact location posted on their website within fifteen minutes. Fuel the crazies out there and perhaps jeopardizing a person’s life.

That’s sick. The owner of the site thinks he’s amusing. Sometimes I dislike media particularly the news and their inability of knowing when THEY have crossed the line. They help established these crazy folks by giving them airtime and blasting their smirking and inconsiderate faces on national television.

At least they have redeemed themselves by repeating George Clooney’s request without showing his picture on television. GC wants all fans to overwhelm this Gawker site with false information. Discredit the site. Yay!
