Good Movies Piss Me Off

Cold Mountain

Would this movie had been any less stunning if they had changed the freaking ending.

I do not need for movies to emulate the realities of the today.

What is the deal? What happened to the struggle, overcoming obstacles, and the end resulting in living happily ever after.

Well, yeah, I’m tired of seeing characters I have enjoyed be done away with. I say to heck with realities. I can turn on the news and watch death any moment of the day.

I guess I’ll go and watch POTC 2. At least that movie guarantees a whole lot of fun, foolery, and a heavily mascara wearing Jack Sparrow.

A moment’s irritation. Cold Mountain was very, very good, and also very, very sad. Damn near depressing when I think of the struggles Ada and Inman went through to be together.

    Oh dear…
    It’s a well-written story, isn’t it.

    Have another slice :D

If I keep eating chocolate cake, my dear, I’m going to have take a double dose of diabetic medicine. LOL

The movie was very good. I haven’t read the book. Read very good reviews about it, though. It was written by Charles Frazier. Apparently, the author is a descendant of Inman, who was wounded in the Civil War. He went AWOL and walked back to his home, Cold Mountain. This was the inspiration for his book.

Inman in the book didn’t fare any better than Inman in the movie.

btw, are you reading Swordspoint with Des Pudels Kern? I have it on my bookshelf and think it would be good idea as a point of discussion.

Oh, don’t worry. E-chocolate cake doesn’t have too much sugar, so you can easily have two slices. *g*

It might indeed be nice to have a book to discuss, but I’m afraid Swordpoint isn’t the one. Some people on my flist love Ellen Kushner’s books, so I am probably missing out on something. I found over the past months, that I will rather read non-fiction than a novel (apart from the occasional POB browse).

…and I have not enough time and need weeks to finish a book.
    Sorry. :(

I’ve browsed the book store with little to interest me this past year. I used to love reading historical romance books but I’ve lost my taste for them.

Children of Men was one of a hand-full of fictional books I’ve read. I purchased several non-fiction books about western life and enjoyed them immensely. Of course, there was an ulterior motive for this. What’s a citified gal to do? *ggg*

I know the feeling, with one exception though, I really do like to browse my favourite historical naval romance series now and then.
    *g*

Indeed, I wonder why you bought Children of Men.
    *gggggg*
I recently bought this book and also wonder why.

I certainly know why you purchased the book. Probably for the same reason why I purchased the non-fiction “Queer Cowboys.” *g*
