I don’t know what the hell happened, but I’m not buying into this episode. There is no way they would have built up this storyline making us believe Kara has this special destiny only to have it resolve to death. What the frak. Starbuck is not dead. She did not commit suicide. Since when does death equates to special destiny? Everyone dies.
I’m not liking this at all.

I don’t buy it either. I think it’s pretty clear that Kara’s “death” has to do with the final five mythology, likely she was the one Xena was referring to when she saw the faces of the five. I think for sure Kara will be back as some sort of goddess — though I’d still find that pretty unsatisfying. I think it’s also possible that she is a hybrid of some sort.
Oh well, after really wowing me with the beginning of this season, I’m finding that these last few episodes are…missing something. There isn’t enough of the *relationsips* left to hold on to. Originally we had all kinds of great relationships in flux — Boomer/Helo/Tyrol; Dualla/Billy; Adama/Lee and Adama/Kara; Kara/Lee and Kara/Zak; Kara/Tigh; Adama/Tigh; Tigh/Ellen; Lee/Roslin; Adama/Roslin; Roslin/Billy…
The last few episodes have been very dry. They’ve gotten away from what I thought was the strength of the show…
I agree, T. The relationships were something I enjoyed immensely about the show and how they used the mythology and culture to develop an interesting worldview that had elements of realism.
I did a bit of searching after posting my entry and discovered the actress Katee may have had contract problems. I guess the writers figure this was one way to solve the disagreement.
I’m going to miss Starbuck. She may have made me want to shake her until her teeth rattle but I adore her presence on the show. I can’t wrap my mind around having a Battlestar Galactica without a Starbuck.

Isn’t it crazy. They make us fall in love with a character and then kill them off. Sheesh!
BSG was once a great series. The characterizations and the mythology made you think but now the show seems to be meandering along.
I thought it was great that other talented people liked Nothing else matters so much that they turned it into a songvid for two wonderful fandoms.

I remember when they killed off Daniel in Stargate SG-1 and replaced him with a guy who had ‘stand-in-Daniel’ virtually tatooed on his forehead. Oe season later Daniel was back. But now the show is losing it
it’s appeal again (over here we are at season 9), with weird new bad guys and another main character gone.

Really! That sucks. I was hoping it wasn’t anything like that…
