TDK

The reviews for The Dark Knight are awesome. I will be seeing this movie soon. Have to go back to D.C. Don’t want to, but it’s for business, not pleasure. In all fairness, called bro and asked him to go with me. Stinker. He was walking inside the theater to see TDK as we were speaking. Out on a date. I guess he deserves going out after the long and whiny breakup with his wife.

Even colleagues at work are interested in TDK. Woah! One of them called wanting to know more about this special award The Powers will be bestowing on Heath Ledger. I didn’t have a clue then, and still don’t. I try not searching the net while at work. Maybe someone on my Flist knows.

This I do know, TDK took in more than $155.0 million dollars and completely shattered American Box Office weekend record.

Go Heath! I hope you’re smiling down on us.

Another one bit the dust

This can’t be news to anyone since even my SO knows. William Petersen as Gil Grissom is leaving CSI.

No surprise, there. Petersen has been saying he will be leaving the show since season 5. I’ve said if he left that would be end of CSI for me. I can’t imagine the show without him.

I wonder how the lost of three original cast members will affect the ratings. Warrick isn’t dead. (Yeah, I’m in denial.) He and Gil will go off into the sunset with glee on their faces.

Wonderful

I had a fabulous weekend.

I traveled to the D.C. area to do the Running of Brides at Filene’s Basement with a group of girls. It was a hoot. There were several cameras there from TV stations. I ran in looking for the bride’s dress size. OMG, in the speed of light, those women swooped everything off the racks. I ended up empty handed. LOL

Anyway, I redeemed myself later. It took six women and hours of searching. I think the bride tried on about 50 dresses. She finally settled on a lovely, strapless dress with gold lace trimmings. It was a perfect fit.

The next day we visited the Smithsonian Museum and saw the Live Butterflies and the Hope Diamond. Then we caught a bus to Georgetown to shop like normal people. Saw a bunch of pretty people in their pretty summer clothing. Gladly Beyond popped in my head; Lex tells Clark, Georgetown is a sewer. gggg

WordPress and Sidebars

It took one second to remove the code enabling the display of the sidebar in the posts. It’s taken me hours, searching for the fix to widen the post column across the space of the disappearing sidebar.

I’ve learned more than intended on WP coding, which is good, really. But, I couldn’t find the fix for the column situation. I’m using the same theme here for my fiction blog, hence, the removal of the sidebar for aesthetics reasons. This theme is a thing of beauty and is perfect for highlighting individual stories without the clutter of the sidebar.

Each search turned up complications in expanding the column width. Apparently, one must modify more than the index and the single post template files. Adding the code – Class=”widecolumn” to the Content code simply does not do the job.

My important wish list for WordPress is to develop a function to allow choosing which template will have sidebars.

Gyllenhaal and Ledger

It appears that Jake is now working on his latest film, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Looking good, Jakey. He apparently is growing out the hair, too, and well he seems very, very happy. Jake and sister, Maggie, will be honoring Heath Ledger at the upcoming premiere of The Dark Knight.

I must say I can’t wait for the movie to air in theater. I’ve always been an admirer of Heath Ledger films and the word is he owns the part as the Joker.

As sad as his tragic death was, I am so glad Ledger had the opportunity to show his talent and to star in another great film.

More pictures of Jake are archived in the fanphoto section.
