Part curiosity about CMS systems and being anal on managing two WP applications, I began playing around with CMS systems.
It bugs me each time WP releases a newer version I have to upgrade twice. So, I set out to test EE, which blew my mind. Even though I have basic skill level in html and little to nothing in CSS, and zilch in php, I thought I would do fine with EE. Go ahead and laugh. Hah, after a week, I gave up on EE.
Then I went out and installed Textpattern, which was delightfully easy. Less than one day I am actually up and running Textpattern. Still have a few minor fixes required to the template I chose to skin the site.
Textpattern, I can love, except, there should be more modernized templates out there for noobies like me, who balk in learning the code structure for the backend of an application.
While searching for a TXP gallery plugin comparable to WP Nextgen, I stumbled on a site that lists the tools one needed to make WP act like a CMS, notably, the navigational link plugin and WP pages for static content.
What a dilemma. Because now I have to study WP (with this new founded information) to see if it’s feasible for merging my fiction stories into the same site with my blog and gallery.
Or, I can continue with TXP. I already know how to manage static pages. TXP provides very good instructions in language well understood and a direct means to updating the page template.
Sigh. Between work and mundane RL, this week my head will be bursting while I ponder on choices.
