Caprica: There Is Another Sky

Was that Caprica? I thought I had dropped into a Matrix movie without Trinity’s kickass fight scenes. Neo would’ve approved and loved it. Switch between two worlds, V-world and R-world, on a dime. Do away with depending on someone to push the button on the other side before getting thrashed by the bad guys.

Awesome. But… this is not Matrix and this show is definitely not BSG.

Last night’s episode, There Is Another Sky, officially establish Caprica as a stand-alone series not to be confused with BSG.

Of course, there are themes in Caprica that relate to BSG such as the ideas of the One-True-God and the Cylons, which are good for us die-hard BSG fans still with questions. I suspect Caprica will have some answers. But, a large part of this show is about the disaffected younger generation that has taken technology to a very scary place. Where there are no-holds-barred to do anything you want without suffering the consequences. And believe me; the consequence would require heavy payments, like a hundred years in jail for committing terrible and horrendous things these kids are doing in the V-world.

What I don’t understand is how a person can sit on a park bench lost for hours in V-world via the holoband, oblivious to their surrounding, and not get robbed, molested, or anything for that matter.

What about the parents. Do they know what’s going on with their children? The Graystones certainly didn’t know about Zoey. Do they feel relief because their children aren’t out creating mindless havoc but are at home, caught up in something quite not real. Does this excuse them from performing the parental duty?

One thing made clear about Caprica, there is a wide chasm between parents and child. It’s laid out there for you just watching Joseph and his son Willie, and the Graystones and the events leading up to Zoey’s death.

Now that I’ve an idea about Caprica, I must say I do enjoy the show. More about that later because this post has gotten way too long.

Word: I so adore hunky Sam Adama, my favorite assassin.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
