Twilight Breaking Dawn Movie Review: Bella, Please

With Edward and Bella getting married in Breaking Dawn, I find I wasn’t as immerse in the movie as before with the previous installments.  There are good parts – Edward and Bella playing chess.  Edward breaks the bed as they consummate their marriage.  The facial expression on the female servant’s face was priceless.  I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing out loud in the audience.  I don’t know if her expression was a look of confusion or fear or maybe a combination of both.  She knows Edward is a vampire.

Breaking Dawn has the same sweet and innocent feel to it as the previous movies.  What I missed is the balance of romance and action that kept me interested.

My biggest complaint, the story dragged in parts giving us lots of panoramic views.  I love beautiful scenery but never in lieu of good, well-paced storytelling.

Then there is Bella.  Her obstinacy in having the baby was annoying.  Did she give one thought to Edward and his feelings.  Think about the possible endangerment to the community.    To her father?  Bella in her immaturity risks everything for an unknown.  I came away from the movie thinking this is one for the pro-lifers.  Have a baby at all costs even if you die and the child is without a mother.

Breaking Dawn is a two part movie.  The first one felt every bit of the producers stretching the movie to cover the required airtime so they can reap the benefits of Breaking Dawn, part two.

I’m not familiar with the books, so I can’t comment on the faithfulness to the film adaptation.

What do you think.

Dom, Brian, and Mia back together again. It was great seeing Vince and the other major actors from the other four movies all in FF5. But, what ever happened to Leon. See link below to Image Gallery.

We went into the theater thinking, how would the cowboys kick the aliens backside.  Cowboys & Aliens is a totally awesome movie.  Crazy.    LOL!

The aliens are quite, yipes, ugly.  A cross between the predators and yes, you got it, the monster in the classic alien movie.

Here I thought Jake (Daniel Craig) was…  I’m not telling you.  Go see and be entertained.

Movie Review: Fast Five – High Octane

Oh talk about a heist movie.  Fast Five was the bomb.  With its farfetched plot, FF is an absolute fun filled, action-packed movie.  Be warned though; DO NOT WALK OUT OF THE MOVIE WHILE THE CREDITS ARE ROLLING.

What I miss.  The jumping, high-octane music.  The crowd of beautiful women and men sashaying in and out of their cars, getting their grove on.  Ratcheting up for the race.  These are the trademarks of the previous movies.  Not so with FF.  Clearly, Mia and Bri are exhausted as fugitives of the US government.  Dom during his first scene also appeared tired.  They’ve been on the run for a long time and it’s quite evident.

What I love.  The family reunion.  Easy to forget Dom never met Rome and Tej until Rome says to him.  “Yeah, heard about you.”  Bri brings something to plate.  Rome and Tej are his family and melding them in with Dom’s crew makes Dom (and me) happy.  Vince, though, still has a problem with Bri.  In true fashion, they get it on.  As usual, Dom restrains the boys from their childish behavior.  I sorely missed Vince in FAF4.  Can anyone tell me, what the heck happened to Leon?

In a surprise move, Dom’s love interest is not Gisele.  Just as well, Gisele and Dom in FAF4 didn’t have the chemistry.  But did the producers have to create a replay of Dom and Bri.  As in law enforcement meets Dom.  Law enforcement becomes enamored of Dom.  Seems like Elena, a police officer working with Hobbs gets ensnared in Dom’s tangle web.  Elena is more like Letty than Gisele.  So, yeah, the attraction goes both ways.

The plot a bit silly.  The action scenes outrageous and fantastic.  Fast Five offers non-stop actions.  Bri and Mia running for their lives, jumping over tall buildings.  Me gasping as I watch Dom and Bri go over a high cliff.  Even when the premise of the story gets twisted in the action, therefore, somewhere lost, I don’t mind.  Who cares about plot?  I got my boys with their awesome driving skills and their awesome good looks.  Some movie should be enjoyed simply for the pleasure of pure entertainment.

And of course, for the price of a ticket, I wouldn’t miss Dom and Hobbs’ showdown.  It’s like watching two bulls in a bullfight.

Go and see.  I’m definitely going again this coming weekend.
