“V” For Voootiful

Scifi shows

I tried, tried, tried. Usually I’m easy, you know. Heroes, whaaaaa! Has finally lost its appeal. The writers wrote a revisionist ep of when Charlie died. Watched it, wished she’d stayed dead. Prayed they would ship Hiro back to the future. Instead, I died, metaphorically speaking. So boring.

I’m desperate for good Scifi shows. Flash Forward seems interesting, still trying to catch up to the current ep.  The good:  they have Jack Davenport, Captain Norrington of POTC.

V

“V” Premiered last night. Beautiful people with their gorgeous leader. Luring us in with its goodwill messages. Okay. So do you know what lies underneath the glowing skin. The pilot much better than SGU could ever claim. So I’m in for the remaining four episodes.

Have recommendations for good TV. Tell me about them.

Heroes: The Eclipse

Did anything important occur on Heroes tonight? I am not so sure. After last week’s episode, which I thought was good, comparing to previous episodes, I feel tonight was a big let down.

The eclipse appeared; the heroes lose their powers. Claire is shot in the shoulder during the fight with Elle and Sylar. She feels the pain and takes joy in it. Nathan and Peter argue about daddy dearest. Peter has lost respect for Nathan because he’s daddy’s puppet. Nathan tries to re-establish himself as the big brother by putting Peter down, treating him like a kid. Peter’s ideas are simply no good to Nathan. Nathan has better ones even though Peter thought of the right choice. Elle and Sylar kiss as if we didn’t see that coming.

The entertainment factor is Hiro, the ten years old child in a man’s body. Actually, the interaction between Hiro, Matt, and Ando was the best scenes tonight. At least we discover when Daphne’s loses her power, her true self is a paraplegic.

To it all I say “so what.”

I would’ve loved to learn something about Claire as the catalyst. What does it means to all concerns.

I guess we will have to wait until next week.

Heroes Ep

Heroes is making me frakking crazy. Screw saving the cheerleader. They need to save my brains.

Mohinder, man, I just can’t stand you.

Making you the bad guy is really, really wrong. Harvesting bodies as in Ripley’s Alien is just sick.

Nikki, Tracy, whatever, without Micah, you’ve lost the thrill.
Matt on a sabbatical out in the desert or Africa, whatever, is just wrong.
Peter and Nathan apart is just wrong.
Hiro stabbing Ando with a sword is terribly wrong.
Claire, your gullibility is amazing and you need to grow up.

I think I’ve hit on what is bothering me the most about this season – they’ve lost the hope, the sacrificing for family, the purpose of the good trumpeting over evil.

The water is muddied with this heroes vs villians concept and they are dropping the viewers (me) in this big pool of gray, gray, gray. Because darn if I know who is good and who is bad, and what is suppose to be real and what isn’t. Too many dreamscapes for me. Did Ando die? And that is the other thing, people on this show die and arise from the ashes like it’s a genetic code of its own.

If heroes vs villians turn out to be the natural vs man-made heroes, respectively, I am going to scream foul, big time.

So Mr. Petrelli is alive. Did you really think I would swoon and say, OMG. Really.

Heroes: Powerless

Nathan cannot be dead.  This is so lame.  The show having the ability to kill off characters and bringing them back alive is also lame.  Too damn easy and lazy writing.  Maya could have stayed dead for my interest in her is non-existent.

I’ve read fanfic where Methos of Highlander had been buried alive for decades.  Someone at Kring and company have been checking out Highlander.  First, they share the name “Adam” and immortality, and then the way to kill the immortal is doing something to the head.

In the brains department, Peter improved only marginally tonight.  I call it the Mohinder syndrome.  Let’s see how stupid we can make the character to further the storyline.

Angela shocked me when she suggested to Matt on how to do away with Peter.  Come on, that wasn’t very motherly.

I wonder who shot Nathan.  I suspect it may have been Noah, which could setup some interesting dynamics between Claire and Noah for future episodes.

Really, Heroes is suffering with a heavy dose of sophomore ailments.

Peter and Nathan

This is one gorgeous vid.  A must see of Peter and Nathan from the Season One.

Peter/Nathan

Honestly, I tried to resist this type of pairing.  Then I read ‘s Lethe’s Shore and I was doomed to the darkside with no help from Peter and Nathan.  They are gorgeous together.  You just have to watch the first season to see the love between them, the way they stare at each other, the touching, the stepping into the other’s space with no concerns.  Their interactions just pull you in.  The vid captures these nuances so well of Peter and Nathan.

How I deal with the subject matter.  I tell myself it isn’t real.  This is fantasy and Heroes is one big heap of fantasy world where anything goes.   Real worldview values need not come knocking on my door.

Heroes: Truth and Consequences

Btw, Battlestar Galactica’s Razor rocked!

Sorry.  This Heroes: Truth and Consequences sucked big time.  Too many story arcs and so little time.  This ep should’ve been rocking, having us holding our breath, waiting anxiously for next week to be here already.  Bah.  Big suckitude.

The truth is, I don’t like Maya and Sylar’s storyline.  Not in scheme of the current situation.

The truth is, hello Victoria.  Goodbye, Victoria.  Wonder how much they paid Joanna Cassidy for her five minute scene?

The truth is, Peter completely missed Victoria’s statement that his parents were killers.

The truth is, for this ep Peter shared some of the same brain cells as Mohinder.  Dimmed wit and narrow focus.  Peter concerns for Caitlin is like do we really care.  Mohinder’s determination is to save Nikki and to be all self-righteous.  Annoyingly so.

The truth is, both Bob and Adam showed their true colors and should anyone be surprised.

The truth is, I missed Nathan, terribly.  Yo Nathan.  Peter needs you, man.  Needs your sarcastic, sharp shooting wit so he can get back on the clue bus.

Argh, Claire.  Can anyone ever forget you are only seventeen years old.

I do like Micah and Monica but for sake of brevity could they not conclude their storyline sometime in the future.

Next week’s ep – I hope the powers put in a lot more energy in the final than they did with Truth and Consequences.
