Is This the Seven Year Itch

Larry and Sam Adama’s Picspam, Part 2

In Reins of the Waterfall, Larry alluded to possible problems in his marriage with Sam. They rose to the surface in Caprica’s False Labor.

Apparently, mornings in the Adama’s home are chaos. Blame Joseph Adama as the driving force of the craziness. Without Ev, Joseph is hopeless and Ev probably keeps his business running in tip top shape. You know who’s cool, grandma and she’s a little scary. But Willie, man that kid takes it all in stride.

In walk Larry and Sam adding to the pandemonium. Sam goes straight for the television. Larry stares straight at his husband.

“Here we go again,” Larry says.

“Won’t you stop busting my balls. It’s a little early don’t you think,” Sam responds.

Blink. Oh oh

While watching the news, Sam is going on and on about the state of Tauron. Even grandma gets into the action. But as you can see, Larry is getting annoyed.

Where oh where did they find that coat. LOL. Something about Tauron’s preferred home décor is way too depressing. Dark wall color, dark furniture, dark kitchen, dark curtains, low beam lighting, waaaah. It makes me want to cry.

Ooops. Click. There goes the television.

“What are you doing?” Sam asks.

“I’m cutting you off,” Larry says. (Is Larry for real. double entendre)

I almost fell off my chair, LMAO. Larry is rocking this relationship.

“…you wanna turn that back on, please,” Sam says. (Did I hear correctly? Sam said “Please.”)

Yep and guess what? The television stays off.

Larry lets out the dirty laundry complaining about Sam obsessive habit of watching television 24/7. He tells the family Sam is sending a big portion of his salary to Tauron.

Larry is not being frivolous. We learn later in the episode he’s justified and has some serious concerns about what Sam is doing. Sam is running guns to Tauron. Sam does not have approval from the Guatrau to do so.

Still this scene cracked me up. There are two obvious sides to Sam. Sam the mobster, and Sam the husband. The mobster is an efficient killer extremely good with the knives. Sam didn’t break into a sweat when the Guatrau threatened him. With Larry, Sam is this huge puppy dog poodle, who lets his husband aggravate him and all he can say is please. Guess who rules the house.

Just lovely. The only image of seeing them this close. Too bad we won’t get to see the proper kiss our boys.

Larry and Sam Adama Picspam, Pt 1

Others are talking about Caprica’s cancellation. I’m going to show Caprica love with a picspam of Larry and Sam Adama.

Caprica introduced Larry in “Reins of a Waterfall” episode 1×03. He again appeared in “There is Another Sky,” and “False Labor.” Such a small part, his introduction made a tremendous impact with the audience. We were wowed. Sam Adama, a hunky, devilish, Ha’la’tha enforcer was married to man, Larry, who came across as sweet and adorable. It was great, wonderful and just as ordinary in Caprica’s universe. Bigotry in this universe lies with the choice of faith, and the place of native birth within the 12 colonies. Group marriage, same-sex relationships, these things do not matter in Caprica.

Dinner with the Adamas. Sam becomes somewhat the father figure for Willie, as Joseph forgets his duties as dad while grieving for the loss of wife and daughter in the MAGLEV explosion. Enforcer Sam is cleaning the diner table for his favorite people, nephew Willie and husband, Larry. There is something so oddly weird seeing Sam the Mobster in this setting. Goes against what we knew of him as a killer and a thug.

Are you done, honey. Yes, sweetie.

Ah, that look. Not in front of the kid. Take it to the bedroom, boys.

Larry: I’m married to a tough guy.

Sam to Larry: You know all you do is take the piss out of me, or aggravate me, or irritate me, or annoy me.

Pick your choice, Sam spoke in Greek, darnit.

Larry to Sam: Then why do you love me so desperately?

Sam: Cause I got issues.

Yep, you do Sam. One of them is called love.

The scene started with Larry describing to Willie the various symbols of their gods. Sam offers his explanations. Warm, charming and so domestic, it showed us another side of Sam and brought depth to his character. How I love seeing this mobster bow down to the people who cared for him.

As a couple, Sam and Larry are just adorable.
