Pairing: Jack Aubrey/Stephen Maturin
Rating: PG – 100 word Drabble
Summary: On MandC100 LJ community, we were requested to select one image from a choice of three, and write a 100 word drabble.
There was no way to measure the damage caused by the disagreement between Jack and Stephen. If the reactions of the Surprises were an indication, in their manner of catering and deference to Stephen, then Jack could think the situation fell to the category of seriousness.
He, however, didn’t dwell in self-examination.
Jack held himself stiffly from the others and watched Stephen as he reveled in the gift of discovery. The gunshot echoed in the ocean-driven air. It produced a different damage of possible deathly consequence. Stephen.
Aloof no longer, but with deadly controlled anger, Jack said. “Calamy. Get Higgins.”

Note:
It’s at this point, Jack realizes just how important Stephen is to him.
